We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Document/Information Controller to join our team on the Metrowest 1b framework with Network Rail, a 24‑month programme delivering a range of high‑profile schemes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further develop their expertise and take on increasing levels of responsibility within a dynamic project environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Coordinate all document control activities, including handling technical documents, drawings, and commercial correspondence.
- Manage and maintain project documentation using EDMS platforms (ProjectWise, SharePoint, Syncro, Viewpoint for Projects).
- Ensure accurate input, tracking, and updating of document data within registers and control logs.
- Issue, receive, and distribute controlled documents, including producing electronic transmittals for project teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Maintain secure custody of documents and drawings, ensuring traceability, compliance with standards, and alignment with naming/numbering conventions.
- Organise and file all project documentation, receipts, distribution lists, and records in line with corporate procedures.
- Conduct document quality checks, audits, and metadata verification, resolving anomalies where required.
- Support the corporate content management system and ensure continuity across business systems.
- Maintain accurate document registers, action logs, and the local document library.
- Provide guidance, support, and first‑line training on document management systems and procedures.
- Function as the midway point of contact for document control queries and issues within the project team.
- Assist in the coordination of document control policies, protocols, and practices across the project.
- Manage archiving, retrieval, and storage of documents, including maintaining hard‑copy master’s where required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Experience in construction documentation management and revision control.
- Proficient in EDMS platforms and digital document systems.
- Understanding of quality, compliance, and industry standards.
- Ability to support project coordination and construction information workflows.
- Educated to NVQ level or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a Document/Information Controller role.
- Competent in spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and relevant project software.
- Experience setting up and using electronic document management systems.
- Strong record‑keeping skills with the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to input and retrieve data quickly and accurately.
