We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Project Manager to join our team on the DC Welsh Water AMP8 / AMP9 programme, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone keen to develop their skills and take on greater responsibility as part of a major long‑term programme valued at over £300m across 8 years.
This role requires someone with strong experience in water infrastructure, heavy civils, deep pipelines, storage tanks, nature‑based solutions, and multidisciplinary M&E project.
Role Responsibilities
You will lead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects from conception through to completion, ensuring work meets project requirements, achieves customer satisfaction, upholds SHEQ standards, and aligns with Morgan Sindall. More specifically, you will:
- Deliver projects to agreed scope, cost, quality, programme, and completion standards.
- Lead design, engineering, construction, handover, and commercial activities.
- Manage risk and value engineering processes, addressing risks and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Provide clear communication, leadership, and motivation across all project teams.
- Oversee all SHEQ requirements and champion continuous improvement.
- Advise on project planning and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
- Prepare and communicate financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with Morgan Sindall processes, statutory requirements, and project controls.
- Manage project costs, resources, and performance documentation (WPPs, SMOWS, H&S plans).
- Support business plan delivery, performance monitoring, and identification of growth opportunities.
- Lead and develop project staff, addressing performance issues where required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Strong ability to deliver projects to defined scope, cost, quality, and programme standards.
- Leadership capability across design, engineering, construction, handover, and commercial functions.
- Competence in risk management and value engineering, including identifying and acting on risks and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Clear communication and team‑leadership skills to motivate and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of SHEQ requirements and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, including progress reporting to stakeholders.
- Financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting and report preparation.
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer and supplier relationships.
- Knowledge of statutory, regulatory, and internal compliance processes.
- Cost, resource, and documentation management skills (WPPs, SMOWS, H&S plans).
- Ability to support business planning, performance monitoring, and improvement initiatives.
- People‑management skills, including developing staff and addressing performance issues.

About the Water|Highways Business Unit
Our Water team designs, builds, and maintains vital UK water infrastructure, ensuring secure water supply and wastewater services.
We work with major water companies to create resilient facilities, reduce flood risks, and improve environmental outcomes. Currently, we participate in the Welsh Water AMP7 and AMP8 frameworks and have secured projects with Wessex Water for the next five years. These long-term framework agreements are part of a national £88 billion investment, requiring a collaborative and agile approach to meet the industry's challenges.
Our Highways team delivers comprehensive services, from major national projects to local schemes, improving road journeys for millions daily.
With expertise in tunnelling, bridges, and more, we provide end-to-end project support, including design, integration, and construction. Current projects include concrete road replacements for National Highways, smart motorway safety enhancements, and widening the A423 for Oxford City Council.
