We have an exciting opportunity for an Information Manager with strong knowledge of BIM, CDE systems, and data-led reporting in a major project environment.
You will join our team on the National Grid GGP (Great Grid Upgrade), supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.
This role supports a major infrastructure project for a regulated client within the UK utilities and energy sector, valued at over £70m. The scheme involves multi‑disciplinary design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities delivered through a complex supply chain. As Information Manager, you will be fully embedded within the project team from early design through construction to final handover, ensuring the continuity and consistency of information management throughout the programme.
Role Overview
As an Information Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding information management plans, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 19650 standards.
Collaborating closely with the Client, Document Control, Quality, and Engineering teams, you will oversee CDE implementation, data capture, and reporting, while supporting the adoption of digital tools such as Power BI to enable smarter, data-driven decision making.
You will also help drive a consistent information management approach across the Energy business, ensuring collaboration, compliance, and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with contractual information requirements and ISO 19650 principles.
- Lead the rollout, implementation and continuous improvement of Information Management plans, processes and procedures.
- Function as the central coordination point for information management across the project team, designers, subcontractors, and the client.
- Oversee document control standards, ensuring accurate, consistent and compliant information management.
- Manage information exchanges, submissions, reviews and approvals in line with agreed protocols.
- Support project teams by ensuring information is dependable, traceable, and up to date.
- Work with Document Control, Engineering and wider project teams to enhance workflows and handover strategies.
- Monitor information risks, addressing gaps, inconsistencies and non‑compliance.
- Lead handover activities, ensuring asset and record information is delivered to the required standard.
- Line‑manage the Document Control team, including performance, capability, workload planning, and development.
- Set clear standards and ways of working for document control, driving continuous improvement across the function.
- Provide training, guidance, and software support (including digital tools such as Power BI) to project teams and Document Controllers.
- Produce and maintain data‑driven reports to monitor progress and support informed decision‑making.
- Support the integration of digital processes and ensure consistency across the Energy sector.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
We are looking for Experience leading Information Management or Document Control on major infrastructure or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of information management principles, document control processes, and Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Ability to work effectively within multi‑disciplinary teams and complex supply chains.
- Skilled in interpreting contractual information requirements and applying them.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Good understanding of ISO 19650 and the UK BIM Framework; accreditation desirable.
- Experience in BIM advisory or information management roles on large projects.
- Ability to lead, support and develop document control teams.
- Proficient in CDE platforms such as Viewpoint for Projects, ProjectWise or SharePoint.
- Strong digital capability, including Microsoft Office and Power BI.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and commitment to standardisation and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with NEC or similar contract forms.
- Willingness to travel within the UK as required.

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
