The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a flagship scheme including a 7.5km underground cable project across difficult terrain with works to an existing substation and development of a new substation. Current works involve GI and Design moving into pricing and delivery in 2027.

This is a high-profile scheme that will run through both design and construction phases, offering excellent long-term development and exposure to large-scale energy infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working with the project director, and taking responsibility for all commercial matters incl subcontract management, valuation, contract change and robust reporting.
  • Preparing and pricing contracts, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Supporting the bid team and contributing to commercial strategy.
  • Working closely with design and delivery teams to identify and realise cost savings.
  • Providing clear financial reporting and ensuring full accountability for project results.
  • Managing risks, opportunities and compliance in line with company and contract requirements.

What we’re looking for:

  • Ideally degree qualified Commercial Manager
  • Experience in the energy sector (Preferred), with major infrastructure project exposure.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC Option C (Preferred)
  • Proven track record of delivering successful projects with transparent reporting and accountability.
  • Experience preparing and pricing contracts, procurement management, and cost forecasting.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients, designers and delivery teams.
  • Commercially astute, with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

About our Energy business unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
