We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Energy team on the Scottish Power Framework, supporting both our CMN3 (Galashiels to the England–Scotland border) and Harburn substation projects.

You will support the commercial management across these major programmes, assisting with the oversight of our external design partner, contributing to pricing for future stages, and leading on the management of substantial subcontract packages. This role offers an excellent opportunity to play a key part in shaping significant energy infrastructure projects while supporting the long‑term successful delivery of a strategic framework.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support change management activities and delivery of NEC4 contractor obligations.
  • Manage large and multiple subcontract packages from early involvement through delivery.
  • Oversee the design subcontractor and function as first point of contact for subcontractors and on‑site labour.
  • Provide commercial interface support, working with the commercial lead to ensure successful delivery.
  • Produce accurate commercial reports and offer informed advice to achieve commercial targets.
  • Lead subcontract procurement, administration, and final account resolution.
  • Contribute to internal and external commercial performance targets.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication of commercial and project data.
  • Identify and escalate emerging risks or issues to project leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with approved processes, procedures, and project execution plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Quantity Surveying performance and outputs.
  • Use, or develop skills in, finance systems such as COINS.
  • Manage upstream and downstream change control.
  • Support accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Work flexibly across office, home, and site locations, with some travel as required.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or a commercially related discipline, with intent to work toward professional membership (e.g., RICS or CIOB).
  • NEC4 experience essential; NEC4 PM Accreditation highly desirable.
  • Experience working within a project commercial team or operating independently.
  • Experience using contract management systems such as CEMAR or FastDraft.
  • Civil engineering experience with NEC Option C awareness.
  • Previous experience on large projects desirable (experience with a Tier 1 contractor considered an advantage).
  • Civils or highways experience highly desirable, energy experience beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong experience in managing or supporting the management of subcontractors (including smaller packages).
  • Industry experience, working under strategic and management guidance.
