Planning Manager

We are looking for an initiative-taking and experienced Planning Manager to support the delivery of major energy transmission projects across the North of Scotland, including Mossyhill, Loch na Cathrach and Fasnkyle. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to develop their expertise, take on greater responsibility, and play a key part in delivering critical infrastructure across the region.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all planning and scheduling activities across the programme.
- Develop, maintain, and report on project schedules, progress, and performance metrics.
- Drive effective risk and change management, ensuring impacts are accurately reflected in the baseline plan.
- Provide strategic insight and planning support to project leadership and client teams.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, suppliers, and partners to align planning information and ensure seamless project integration.
- Mentor and develop junior planners, fostering capability growth and consistency across the planning function.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Extensive experience delivering large‑scale or complex energy or infrastructure programmes.
- Background working for a main contractor as a Senior Planner or Planning Manager.
- Proven ability to manage programmes with multiple constraints, competing priorities, and diverse stakeholder interests.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present clear, data‑driven insights to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in P6, MS Project and time‑chainage software.
- Strong understanding of NEC contract requirements and the change‑management process.
- In‑depth understanding of programme controls, project review processes, cost management, and risk analysis.
- Awareness of how commercial activities—such as procurement and contractual changes—impact the baseline programme.
- Experience developing Power BI dashboards.
- Previous operational experience as a Section Engineer or Sub‑Agent (preferred).
- HND, degree‑level qualification, or equivalent professional experience in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
