We are seeking an experienced and effective Commercial Manager to join our Energy team on the Scottish Power Framework, supporting delivery of the CMN3 project. This major scheme covers 97km of new overhead line and substation works from Galashiels to the England–Scotland border, including a cross‑border connection, and forms part of a wider programme of exciting infrastructure upgrades. Role Responsibilities
The Commercial Manager will lead the project’s commercial function, overseeing the external design partner, supporting the pricing of subsequent stages, and managing substantial subcontractor packages. This role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to drive effective coordination across design, commercial and delivery teams.
- Manage, develop, and mentor the project team, ensuring effective performance and professional growth.
- Lead the contract management process with the client, including change management and all NEC4 contractor deliverables.
- Oversee large and multiple subcontractor packages from early involvement through to full delivery.
- Manage the design subcontractor, ensuring seamless coordination and performance.
- Prepare CVRs and complete all standard monthly commercial reporting.
- Function as the primary point of contact for the client, maintaining strong and proactive communication.
- Support project delivery with some on-site working/travel as required; primarily based in Trilogy with a hybrid mix of office, home, and site‑office working depending on project needs.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- NEC4 experience is essential; NEC4 PM Accreditation is highly desirable.
- Relevant QS degree is essential.
- RICS or CIArb chartership is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proven experience working on large projects (£40m+), with flexibility to consider slightly smaller projects where Tier 1 contractor experience is extensive.
- Civils/highways experience is highly desired; energy sector experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Demonstrable experience managing staff and leading teams.
- Previous experience working with design partners or designers is advantageous but not a requirement.

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
