Role Responsibilities
An experienced Plant and Transport professional with a proven background in managing large-scale plant and logistics operations. Capable of working autonomously across complex or multi‑site environments, making informed decisions, and ensuring full compliance with company standards and Operator’s Licence requirements. Responsible for leading all aspects of transport and fleet management to support wider project and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with maintenance and roadworthiness standards, maintaining a six-month HGV compliance schedule.
- Oversee daily checks, defect reporting, and fleet performance across HGV and LCV vehicles.
- Build effective relationships with third‑party suppliers to optimise service delivery.
- Manage EU drivers’ hours check, tachograph and vehicle downloads, and analyse compliance data.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and central records for all maintenance and inspection documentation.
- Conduct gate checks and regular driver compliance check‑ins.
- Lead governance and compliance for HGV and commercial vehicles, monitoring performance to reduce downtime and incidents.
- Oversee fleet operations within legislation and recommend improvements to compliance and best practice.
- Function as point of contact for vehicle and equipment orders through approved supply chains.
- Consult with operations on transport and Operator’s Licence requirements.
- Support vehicle allocation, forecasting, sourcing, and new‑starter driver compliance.
- Manage ongoing Operator’s Licence requirements and support operating centre applications.
- Review driver infringements and take corrective action.
- Lead day‑to‑day transport operations and maintain up‑to‑date vehicle asset registers.
- Arrange new hires in collaboration with Magnor Plant and ensure fleet systems are accurately maintained.
- Drive compliance with O’ Licence regulations and improve environmental and workplace transport standards through audits.
- Ensure all equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
- Manage plant and transport software systems and administer commercial fuel cards.
- Provide regular exception reports on non‑compliance, including speeding and idling.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- A‑Level education or equivalent.
- Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for Transport Managers.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (MILT).
- IOSH Health & Safety qualification.
- Strong environmental awareness.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems.
- Experienced in managing Operator’s Licence (‘O’ Licence) requirements.
- Experience in a transport team or similar role.
- Experience using software to manage plant and transport utilisation and associated costs.
- Valid Cat C or C+E driving licence.
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC).

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
