Senior General Foreman

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Senior General Foreman to join our team on the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) framework with National Grid, supporting the ATNC (Norwich to Tilbury) project. You will play a key role in the successful delivery of a range of exciting schemes within this major programme. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further develop their expertise and take on greater responsibility within a high‑performing, collaborative team.
Role Responsibilities
- Supervise daily site activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery of works.
- Manage the short‑term construction programme, monitoring progress and resolving issues to keep works on track.
- Maintain all MSI site standards, ensuring high levels of safety, quality, environmental performance and cost control.
- Provide accurate and timely progress reporting to the project team and key stakeholders.
- Lead the front‑line supervision and management of GI surveys, providing constructability input and technical advice to support project reports.
- Oversee the effective management of the construction site to meet customer objectives and project delivery targets.
- Apply strong civil engineering knowledge to ensure works are delivered to specification and industry standards.
- Work collaboratively within a high‑performing team environment, supporting a culture of safety, performance and continuous improvement.
- Bring experience from a civil engineering background, ideally gained with a main contractor.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- SMSTS qualification.
- Supervisor’s CSCS card.
- CSCS 5‑day safety qualification and First Aid at Work certification.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering specifications, standards and testing regimes.
- Experience as a Civil Engineering General Foreman, ideally gained with a main contractor.
- Energy sector experience is desirable but not essential.
- Hands‑on approach to the commercial and planning aspects of project delivery.
- Ability to produce, interpret and explain accurate plans and drawings.
- Proficient IT skills and confidence using digital systems to support site activities.

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
