As Estimator, you will take principal responsibility for managing and preparing tenders from first principles, ensuring robust, accurate and competitive submissions. You will coordinate and challenge inputs from the wider construction team — including procurement, engineering and commercial — while supporting bid management, cost assurance, and quality submission requirements. This role also contributes directly to the Scottish Power CNM3 project, valued at up to £850M, offering significant scope for professional growth and long‑term impact.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the bid team to meet tender deadlines and develop effective tender strategies.
  • Review tender documentation, assess scope, complexity, and risks, and provide clear feedback.
  • Source competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations and analyse market trends.
  • Conduct site inspections to validate tender requirements and identify risks or omissions.
  • Prepare quantities and tender submission documents in line with Morgan Sindall procedures.
  • Compile benchmark information, estimate prices, and incorporate customer feedback into tender amendments.
  • Consult with customers throughout the tender period and support contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate contract exchange and deliver comprehensive tender handovers to the project team.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and task delegation to direct reports; identify training needs.
  • Support recruitment, performance management and promote positive workplace relationships.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and stay informed on industry trends.
  • Build and maintain external business contacts and regularly review internal procedures for efficiency and currency.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree educated (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of first‑principles estimating.
  • Solid working knowledge of project management principles.
  • Awareness of current health and safety requirements and industry changes.
