We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Project Engineer (Civils) to join our team on the DC Welsh Water Framework, working on the AMP8 programme, and supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering the project’s engineering requirements to meet customer objectives and specifications, while maintaining exacting standards of health and safety, quality, environmental performance, and cost control.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and specifications, providing technical and engineering support.
  • Monitor works in progress and check sub‑contractor setting‑out.
  • Report survey deviations and supply information to support commercial reviews.
  • Implement and maintain project systems, procedures, ICT tools, and accurate records.
  • Ensure effective communication with all projects, customer, and supplier stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of health and safety requirements and support compliance.
  • Contribute to site activities, problem‑solving, and overall project progress.
  • Support teamwork and identify training and development needs for self and others.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships, enhancing customer and supplier engagement.
  • Monitor supplier and sub‑contractor performance and promote innovation.
  • Provide key commercial inputs for re‑measures, claims, and activity monitoring.
  • Support method statement approvals and ongoing compliance.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in water sector projects.
  • Background in heavy civils construction.
  • Knowledge of deep pipelines and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience with storage tank construction and maintenance.
  • Understanding of nature‑based solutions.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects involving M&E elements.
  • BTEC HNC in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)

About the Water|Highways Business Unit

Our Water team designs, builds, and maintains vital UK water infrastructure, ensuring secure water supply and wastewater services.

We work with major water companies to create resilient facilities, reduce flood risks, and improve environmental outcomes. Currently, we are engaged in the Welsh Water & Wessex Water AMP8 frameworks. These long-term framework agreements are part of a national £88 billion investment, requiring a collaborative and agile approach to meet the industry's challenges.

Our Highways team delivers comprehensive services, from major national projects to local schemes, improving road journeys for millions daily.

With expertise in tunnelling, bridges, and more, we provide end-to-end project support, including design, integration, and construction. Current projects include concrete road replacements for National Highways, smart motorway safety enhancements, and widening the A423 for Oxford City Council.
