General Foreman 

Trawsfynydd, Wales

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious General Foreman to join our team on the National Grid Framework, playing a key role in delivering a range of exciting schemes. In this role, you will lead site delivery teams on the PTNO/PTC1 project, ensuring the efficient execution of civil works associated with substations and wider enabling activities. 

You will be pivotal during mobilisation, managing labour, plant, and materials to prepare the site for construction works. As part of this, you will drive delivery in line with National Grid standards, maintaining full compliance, championing safety, and ensuring programme targets are consistently achieved. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their skills and take on increased responsibility within a highperforming, collaborative team. 

 

Role Responsibilities 

  • Lead site delivery teams on the PTNO/PTC1 project, ensuring efficient execution of civil works for substations and wider enabling activities.  
  • Oversee mobilisation activities, including organising labour, plant, and materials to prepare the site for construction.  
  • Drive safe and compliant delivery in accordance with National Grid standards, ensuring all works meet required safety, quality, and programme milestones.  
  • Manage and coordinate site teams to deliver works safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.  
  • Undertake shortterm planning and allocate resources to support effective daily and weekly site operations.  
  • Oversee site establishment, temporary works, and enabling activities to ensure a safe and wellcontrolled working environment.  
  • Consult with engineers, supervisors, and relevant stakeholders to resolve site issues promptly and maintain progress.  
  • Ensure full compliance with National Grid procedures, safety rules, and projectspecific processes throughout delivery. 

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications 

  • Extensive experience in a General Foreman role within civil engineering or energy infrastructure projects, particularly substations.  
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate site teams effectively.  
  • Solid working knowledge of National Grid standards, including NG Safety Rules and associated permit systems.  
  • SMSTS and CSCS certifications.  
  • Ideally holds National Grid Competent Person status and Substation Entry authorisation.  
  • Temporary Works awareness or coordination qualifications (preferred).
