We are seeking a Cashbook Manager to lead and shape our cashbook and payments function, playing a key role in delivering strong financial control, cash visibility and operational performance across the business.
This is a leadership role, with accountability for cashbook management, banking, payments, reporting and controls. You will set direction for the function, drive continuous improvement and work closely with senior stakeholders, including Group Treasury and Finance leadership.
About the Role
You will lead the end-to-end cashbook and payments function, ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls and a consistent approach across the business. Working cross-functionally, you will influence how cash is managed, support strategic decision-making and drive a strong cash culture.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the cashbook and payments function, setting clear direction and standards
- Drive a strong cash culture, improving visibility, control and working capital performance
- Oversee cash reporting, including daily cash position and variance analysis
- Own and continually strengthen the control environment, ensuring governance and audit readiness
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, building capability and succession
- Manage banking activities, including bank accounts, reconciliations, mandates and relationships
- Oversee payment processes (BACS, CHAPS, purchase ledger runs), ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Ensure effective management of unallocated cash and accurate cash positioning
- Partner with the business and Group Treasury to improve cash forecasting and support wider financial strategy
- Drive improvements in systems, processes and data quality across the function
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role is essential for this position
- Strong experience in cash management, banking or financial operations
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams and drive performance
- Good understanding of financial controls, reporting and governance
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across the business
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive and solution-focused, with the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
